Loving Cups
Nelson Rose water bowl
Nelson Rosewater Bowl

The City of London Companies – or ‘Livery’ as they are collectively known - continue the traditions of the mediaeval Craft and Trade associations and over the years the various Masters and Wardens have given gifts of silverware to their Livery Companies. This is known as City Plate.

Loving Cups
These matching cups were commissioned by the Worshipful Company of Lightmongers to celebrate the millennium.

Each cup is supported by four gods, Jupiter with a thunderbolt, Vulcan at the forge, Apollo wearing a flaming headdress and greeting the dawn and Vesta carrying a pot on her shoulder containing the sacred fire.

The handles of each cup incorporate the sun and the moon while a flaming torch surmounts the cover.

Nelson
Nelson needs no explanation but more about him may be seen under HMS Victory.
