Individual commissions have ranged from a ‘fleet’ of vessels to a rowing eight. In all cases work is preceded by discussions with the client to define scale, detail, surface finishes, plinth, etc. The objective here is to marry the clients requirements with the potential of the medium. From both sides this is essentially a learning process as frequently neither side is fully aware of the others requirements, capabilities and limitations. Additionally on many projects there is the need for considerable research on the theme of the piece and the details of the vessel.

The objective of these discussions is to be able to prepare a detailed specification/quotation for consideration and hopefully acceptance by the client.
