There is no doubt that everybody is stirred by the sight of a multi-masted square rigger in full sail. Add the romance of the tales of the mid-19^th century and the great clipper races when ships and crew were driven to destruction. Sprinkle in a tinge of fear of a few centuries earlier when monsters and falling off the edge of the world seemed real hazards of sailing over the horizon, and some even with no knowledge or experience of the sea become collectors of models of these vessels.
