This subject lends itself naturally to a model with activity and telling a story. While the marlin leaps from the water and is reeled in, the helmsman watches and keeps the boat movements co-ordinated and a man stands by with a gaff. The plinth here, as is so often the case, is a significant and interesting part of the total. In this case the sea is sculptured out of ebony with silver inserts to depict the slight disturbance as the boat moves slowly forwards: the inserts twinkle as one moves ones viewpoint. The surround is sycamore.
